San Diego Night Zoo Lame
Your right the San Diego night Zoo is not what it was, I saw the guy they replaced Zookeeper Willie with, loud and what a jerk when I asked where Willie was, he turned his head and ignored me. I saw another character in a cheezy Zookeeper outfit just talking with employees, he looked old tired and beat, I guess he works at Walmart during the day greeting people.

Was amazed.
Since I am interested in zoology I get ZOONOOZ which is published by the zoo, so I already knew a lot about the zoo and that the SD Zoo is famous because its founder started the first zoological societies and trade among zoos and for bringing so many endangered animals back to the wild. I had so much respect for what it has done before getting there. I was amazed to find world class botanical gardens and that its spread across hills and valleys. So many shady places to stroll, great full service restaurants, it just doesn't look like any zoo I've ever seen (I've been to the National Zoo, Lincoln, Memphis, Phoenix, etc...). There a feeling of importance here, a knowledge that they are doing something important. Added bonus was Balboa Park (google it) that surrounds it and its sister park Wild Animal Park a few miles away where the wineries are. Didn't see everything by a long shot but the aerial tram, and various buses helped getting around the park. Right now the new elephant enclosure is the big thing, I highly recommend taking the aerial tram to the elephants, it leaves you off at their entrance.

Night Zoo changes are the worst!
My family has been traveling to the San Diego for over 8 years - for Night Zoo. Our children have always looked forward to seeing Zookeeper Willie, doing the hula hoop contest, and for the last two years watching the painter from Splash. This year there is no Willie, just some loud obnoxious guy they call the Doctor - and the painter is also gone. The band is ok - but not nearly as entertaining!

LOVE THE ZOO!
I've been a Diamond Member for 7 years! It's a great deal! I take my 7 grandchildren 2-3 times a year, their ages 5 - 13 yrs. Each visit is a new experience, children love animals and never get tired of the shows. This week we are all excited to visit the Elephant Odyssey.

I love the San Diego Zoo
I grew up with this zoo and spent many wonderful days at this zoo. As a teenager my friends and I would spend lots of time there and always would dream of being a zoo keeper. Then as an adult my husband and I would go there too. After moving from San Diego and having children we came back several times. We now plan on coming back to the zoo with our grand daughter. It is a wonderful place! Over the years I have been to many other zoos and they always come up short to San Diego Zoo. It is the best!

Idk
I went on a trip and the main focus was the ZOO!!! only i was slightly dissapointed. They do not have penguins, cheetas, many lions, or other big cats. you have to go to the wild animal park and see world to soo the whole deal. I want to be a zoo keeper for my profession and i wanted to go here so bad. Some of the animals where pacing and seamed to not be happy. Of the vey few big cats they had, there seamed to only be one is very small cages. Yes it was natural but needs to be big. And the tigers they had, they where the second smallest in the world and same with the type of lions they had. The panda exibt wasnt that good either. very very big and lots of climbing. Do not like that you cant see some of the more famous animals and have to go to other places. No dolphins, sharks, the crocs they had where just small ones. only one hippo in the cage. Very excited and dissapointed

Go if u have a lot of time.
It is overhyped for sure! well u do get to see the panda and the sleeping koalas..but if u are on a holiday with only limited time..avoid this. This is a timekiller..with nothing great to offer. I am not saying its not a nice zoo ..but if you are travelling rather go to the beaches, go to la jolla, trek at torrey pines than come here .. ofcourse if you haven't seen a zoo before this is a good one to come to. also if you stay in san diego this good for a lazy weekend and if you loooooooooooove animals u might like this ...although most of them are sleeping , or the cages may be empty. with 35$ go eat in a fancy restaurant by the beach u ll like that more!

Best Zoo Ever
I have gone to this zoo twice before and I plan to return. I have been to many zoos and this is one of my favorites. Don't miss the place where river otters and monkeys play together. The underwater hippo exhibit is amazing, too. I loved the beautiful hilly setting and find it hard to see why anyone would complain about that!
