The National Arts Centre showcases professional Canadian and international performances and is the home of the world renowned National Arts Centre Orchestra. Excellent seating and acoustics allow for the ultimate appreciation of musical, dance and theatrical performances. The center also has a fine restaurant where you can have a meal before or after performances. The atmosphere is upscale and people generally dress accordingly. Snacks, coffee and cold beverages are sold during intermissions. Tickets are pricey and vary by performance.

Ottawa Improv Games National Tournament & Festival

Although amateurs in the field, this theater festival draws sell-out crowds to its performances. The programs offered are brief because, as the name suggests, the content is a surprise to both the audience and actors. The performances showcase the improvisational talents in situations ranging from comedy to drama with some educational content for both children and adults. Teams compete in the regional tournaments in March and a select few advance to the national tournament in April. Past participants have gone on to full time acting careers.
