Boaters in the Pacific Northwest take the opening day of yacht season, the first Saturday in May, very seriously. That's not surprising when you consider that Seattle has one of the highest rates of boat ownership in the United States. Arrive early to hear the Navy concert and see the world-class University of Washington crew team compete in the ceremonial regatta, which officially kicks off the boating season.
