Some say that monks always make the best beer. Whether or not this is true can be found out in the Bräustübl of the Augustinian Brewery that is still in the hands of the monastery. Many Salzburgers love this place and that makes it a hot tip for beer-crazy tourists. In summer, the guests can sip at their ice-cold beer (still served in old stone mugs!) of ½ liter or 1 liter in a huge, shady garden. And the beer is fairly cheap, especially for Salzburg! But it's not all about drinking, there are also a number of snack stalls that offer various Austrian specialties to stop the tummy from grumbling. If you should visit the brewery on a sunny day, take a look inside as the massive halls are quite impressive. Don't miss this down-to-earth beer stop!
