In the Linwood Historic Preservation District, close to Elmwood Avenue's restaurants, and boutiques, this B & B is rated as one of the best in the city. Its five rooms celebrate the nationalities that helped found Buffalo—French, Italian, Irish, German, and Polish—and there's a Native American common area. The building was constructed in 1881 for Colonel Charles Lee Abell, a descendant of the Mayflower pilgrims. The B&B opened in 1990 following major renovations, and is a founding member of the Western New York Bed and Breakfast Association.
