Abandoned in 1854 due to Indian attacks and flooding, the original fort was located about 40 miles from Boise near present day Parma. Today, a marker (east of Parma on Highway 95) is the only confirmation that a fort once stood here. Continue to Parma and you will find a replica of the old fort. The walls are concrete and not adobe like the original, but the new fort gives visitors the feel of the Old West. The annual Old Fort Boise Days brings visitors from across the Boise Valley.
