Back to Little Rock Zoo Save the animals. Spare the people. Limited veriety of animals. Animals looked bored & unhappy. Tiny exibits. Can't bring food, or get any until after 5pm. Under construction for 5 years w/ little to show for it. Small selection of overpriced suveniers. Lack of restrooms. Unhappy staff. Zoo was clean, & few exibits stunk.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Oct 31 2009 Thin animals, no healthy options at Cafe After arriving at the Little Rock Zoo, we were surprised at the condition of the White Rhino especially. Thin is the only was to describe this animal, ribs showing and looking stressed. The gift shop selection was sparse and everything we looked at was made in CHINA.There are other options for stuffed animals. We visited the Cafe and there was no healthy choices available. When staff was asked if they offered anything that wasn't fried, she responded with, "We have burgers?" This zoo needs a new director. 2.45 plus tax for a bottle of water. Lots of walking, few animals. Out of a 5 for best score, we give it a weak 3. Left feeling sorry for the animals.
Reviewed by: S from on Aug 23 2009 Locals who LOVE our zoo! :) Yes, they are always making improvements for the animals and the people who visit. It isn't the biggest or greatest zoo I've ever visited, but it's a wonderful learning place for the kids. It's a great local place to spend the day!
Reviewed by: Anna from on Jul 17 2009 a huge waste of money and time I'm surprised to see any positive reviews on here. We visited the zoo today, and they are still "improving" the place. The last time I visited was 3 years ago, and it was the same way.
Reviewed by: Janet from on Apr 25 2009 will never return. Overpriced. Unfriendly staff. Few animals. Lots of debris and construction and blocked areas. Unsightly enclosures. Bad odors. Would not recommend to anyone. Skip this one and do something better with your time and money.
Reviewed by: Hi There from on Mar 09 2009 March 2009 Our trip to the Little Rock Zoo was Fantastic. Have not been in about 4 years, and what an improvement. From the redesign of the entrance to the animal exhibits - everything was fantastic. The majority of the animals were in their exhibits and all appeared healthy and happy. The zoo grounds were exceptionally clean and there were zoo employees everywhere with a smile on there face and very informational. It obviously is not a 'big city' zoo - but I was impressed.
Reviewed by: HopeH from on Mar 07 2009 YUCK! They are always under construction and there NEVER seems to be any animals. We have lived here ten years and every time we go back hoping and find just dissapointment. Even with gas at 4.00 a gallon I would pay to drive over to the memphis zoo before I wasted my time with children looking at emtpy cages at this one!
Reviewed by: customer from on Jul 24 2008 Stay away! The little rock zoo is making changes, but the changes that they are making are strictly cosmetic. Building new cafes and updating your entrance misses the point of what a zoo is. The animals are supposed to be the attraction so why build facilities and neglect the displays.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jul 05 2008 Looking Up The Little Rock Zoo is looking from the previous reviews. They are trying hard to give the place a face lift. There's a new entry, a new cafe will open soon and lots of new exhibits.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Feb 12 2007 Bad value! I actually went to visit the zoo today. I haven't been in years. I must say that I was very excited about now being able to take my children to the place I once enjoyed so much as a child. Boy, was I disappointed! The prices were outrageous, and you have to buy tokens to ride any of the rides. They have a cafe where we thought we would stop and grab a burger. They wanted $5.00 for a burger and a bag of chips. We left and went across the street to Wendys. The animals were scarce and the ones we did see acted sad and depressed. Overall, I was sadly disappointed.
