Very cool. The tour of the house was very interesting, and the house was beautiful. The tourguide does a good job of placing you in that era with the descriptions of the house and the people who lived there. It's a short drive from downtown. This should be ranked much higher the # 20 on the list.

When we travel, we always make sure to take in at least one historic building, and this was it for us when we visited Nashville. It was very easy to get to, and had free parking (!!!), but I thought $11 was a little expensive for the tour. Our tourguide was somewhat knowledgeable, but our local friend said the tourguide didn't give as much detail as a previous tour she had been on. The building was well preserved, and it did have air conditioning. It was a great time!

Enjoyed the tour very much. Conjures up images from the movie Gone with The Wind. Have always been a fan of history and visiting Belle Meade gave me a more realistic picture of how it is like to live in that period.

Loved the guided tour. Except for the child that would not stop whining.. The guides are knowledgeable and have a lot to do with getting a good feel for how the it would be to live there. I like that the other buildings were at your own pace. That way you can really stop and take everything in. I would highly recomend this tour for anyone with a desire to get a "true" feeling of historical life.

The tour guides here are extremely knowledgeable and do a great job of painting a picture of what it was like to live in the late 1800's - early 1900's. We enjoyed the self-guided portion as well and we highly recommend visiting the carriage house and the slave cabin. Very much worth the price of admission (especially if you have AAA.)

The Belle Meade Plantation is well preserved and the guides are dressed in period clothing. Its history deals with raising champion horses, the quality of slave live there, and the trouble with Union soldiers during the war. You can still see the bullet holes in the front porch columns. The interior of the mansion is beautiful, with large mirrors, intricate carpets, fine china, silver and even a little girls room complete with her dollies and tea set. My daughters and I found it charming. They also have a fine assortment of old carriages in the stables out back. Be sure to visit the slave quarters and see what their lives were like too. It's definitely worth the price.
