The city's State Opera House presents a short pre-season Verdi Festival every year, commencing from the third week in August up to September. The offerings are drawn from the more familiar repertoire of the composer's works. For visitors who can't be in town during the regular opera season, this is a good chance to take in a high-quality production in this lovely, ornate hall which in itself makes a visit worthwhile.
