Situated within an historic and expanding downtown synagogue, this world-famous museum houses over 1,000 Judaic artifacts dating back to the 10th century. These include rare ceremonial garb, medallions, textiles, folk art and books donated by members of the congregation and friends.Of special interest are paintings by well-known artists Marc Chagall, Ben Shahn and Ludwig Wolpert. There are also Holocaust remembrances, and a permanent exhibition called American Jews: A Saga of Three Centuries. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.
