A mish-mash of the traditional and the modern, this 400-year-old establishment is located in the very centre of town, right opposite the Triumphpforte. In spite of the brilliant location, the Goldene Krone is a real bargain and by far the least expensive 3-star option in the city centre. The rooms are pleasant and spacious, although guests have to pay a bit more for rooms with en-suite facilities. Both its Viennese coffee house and hotel restaurant enjoy fine reputations.
