Definitely a premier event in sailing circles worldwide, this week-long event held each spring is an amazing event for sailors and spectators alike. Serious racing occurs for the week on various courses around the island, and everyone eats, sleeps, and, yes, drinks sailing. Sailing is the main event and partying is the sideline held mainly at the Antigua Yacht Club in Falmouth Harbour and Nelson's Dockyard, which is the hub of the event. Usually about 250 yachts descend on the island, and the waters come alive with boats heading toward Antigua. Like carnivals and regattas on other islands, this is something to experience at least once, even if it's only as a spectator.
