What a great day at the zoo...
we got rained on in the afternoon, but we didn't care. The Jacksonville Zoo was even better than I expected. It was setup well to see all the animals. Expect to spend the whole day!

Its very up close and personal, they have unique animals. It is a very neat and clean zoo. Take the train ride, you will get a chance to see things you wont by walking through.

Great zoo that you need to go
I love the the jacksonville zoo, this zoo is great for the whole family. And it worth the money for, here you can go pet the stringrays, and for the kids, play park where kids go in a tree house, climb like a monkey, dig for bones, or splash in the splash ground. It has amazing gardens, getting awards for them. Also they have amazing animal exhibits like the award winning Range of the Jaguar exhibit with Harry, the new addition the the Jacksonville Zoo family. They have the most jaguars in north america, plus the temple home to many creepy crawlers and monkeys. Also outside is home to capybaras,Tapir, anteaters, and howlers, next is the avivary with the giant otters, which is rare animal capitivity, Africa is home to open plain exhibit with endangered bongos the breed succesfully, impala, rhinos, birds, other antelope, and cheetahs, next is the elephant where they have 4 elephants with one rare male elephant from michael jackson, there also 3 new lions and 2 rare amur leopard, male and female. There is the giraffe overlook area where you can pay feed giraffes, where they have a new bay giraffe who share his home with lesser kudu, birds, kilspringer, and a leopard tortise. In the future, the zoo will make new changes with their exhibits. soon there will adding on the asia loop after finishing their asian gardens and komodo dragons. When its done, there will be tigers, sun bears, king cobras, indian rhino, gharials, gibbons, and orangutans.

Disappointing--Very Disappointing
I love animals and I always enjoy trips to a zoo. Well, almost always. The Jacksonville Zoo was very disappointing. The exhibits areas were small and poorly maintained. Unlike other zoos, the walking areas were poorly landscaped and unattractive. I have been to the zoos in San Diego, Cinncinatti, Chicago, New York (Central Park), Toronto, and Detroit, all of which far exceeded the Jacksonville Zoo. Both the zoo's animals and patrons deserve better.

Always Fun
Always lots to see at the Jax zoo. We went again on 13 December and the Jaguar was out...always cool to see. If you go now, they have the Stingray exhibit. The kids can pet the stingrays, which is way cool. This attraction is easy to do in 1/2 of a day. There are also several other activities close by such as: Huguenot Park (drive on the beach), Little Talbot and Big Talbot State parks and more. The Jacksonville Zoo and all these parks are highlighted in a "Jacksonville Great Outdoors" at madcowmemories.com/resources.

Nicest Zoo I have ever been to!
Very Clean, lots of animals, less pavement than in regular zoos. Great family location. Beautiful combination of animals and the environment/gardens.

fantastic zoo!
this zoo was the best. i have been to the washington zoo and i thought that was the best but this topped them all. the animals were so close that the kids did not want to move on to other exhibits. the monkeys were the best. my kids were so fasinated how close they were and we were there for a half hour interacting with them. everything about the zoo was great.
