Stumbled onto Dasrwin's one St. afternoon on a bike ride through Anchorage in the mid '80's; it was a great refuge for me until I left the state in '92. Met a lot of great friends there, and saw most of 'em when I visited in '99! They all had the same clothes on it seemed, but it was great to be there. Darwin greeted me like I never left, and Freddy just "smelled" like he was dead! I dig my "Monkey Business" each quarter in the mail which keeps me up on Darwin events. Always enjoyed hitting Darwins after league softball games. Too many great memories of that place.

Good selection of Beer and very good staff. I have visited this place each time while in Alaska filming and this place has a nice warm feel. Even cool enough to have another Athens kid on the review Amy. LOL

Good people and good staff. Clean and cozy feel to the place. Easy to walk to from most Hotels Downtown. Best reason " A smart Monkey doesn't Monkey around with another Monkey's Monkey".
Used to go here when I was pilot flying in from UK. Sadly our company stopped using Anchorage as a stopover about 20 years ago. I still remeber it as my favourite watering hole in town. I promise to visit next time I get to Anchorage. Can't wait!

I'm really not much of a bar person but I absolutely LOVE this place! They're very friendly and have a great sense of humor and some really fun old songs on the jukebox! I sat in here all afternoon one day eating free popcorn and had a few drinks. I met and talked to a whole bunch of neat people. There were free tacos in the back that day, they were very good! (note: I don't think that free tacos a 'regular' thing.) But-- beware! There was a plastic spider planted in one of the tacos! And.. if you got this spider in your taco they were going to make you do the dishes! And take a picture of you while you were doing the dishes!! LOL !!! Luckily I did Not get the plastic spider in my taco !! But it wouldn't have been so bad... One guy there did get the spider and he did wash one glass and they took a picture of him at the bar sink washing the glass and put it up on the wall. LOL LOL!! [hey-- I know this sounds silly I know but it was really pretty funny]

This is the best bar in town. If you are looking for a fun, laid back atmosphere where the bartenders know how to pour a great drink that does not put a huge dent in your pocket, then, young or old, Darwin's Theory is the place for you!

wonderful place where the bartenders make drinking an experience that you want to do every day. nice photo albums of alaskan wild life and always new photos for your viewing pleasure

This bar has great music, popcorn and drinks. A stiff drink at that. It is a hole in the wall where the locals meet and the tourists get the Alaska flavor. All are welcomed at this place.

I used to go to Darwins Theory when I was stationed at Ft. Richardson. It has the most unique atmoshpere and free popcorn! Some of the most fun I had in AK. was at Darwins Theory in the summertime. It's good anytime though! I would love to go back.

I love this place.....All the bartenders know my name! The best bar little bar in Anchorage and maybe in the US. I've been thrown out twice....but really stepped over the line..Thank God they let me and my gang come back.

Lots of good people more or less live here. Bartenders treat me like the low-life that I am and have only thrown me out twice.

Excellent service, great drinks, friendly people - the best of everything Anchorage has to offer in nightlife. A true melting pot for all social levels but heavy on the testasterone.
