Very nice, well laid-out
We like basically everything about the park. It was well-laid out, everything reasonably close-by so you could see pretty much everything. The panda exhibit was one of the best we've seen in North America (we've seen the pandas in Los Angeles, San Diego Zoo, SF Zoo, Washington, DC zoo, as well as Mexico City, Beijing, Nanking). The pandas were active and put on quite a nice "show". Staff was very nice and helpful (elephant keeper posed with us and waited until I was ready with camera to feed the elephant), panda watchers were very nice, as all the other people working there.

My son and my 2 year old niece Aunesty were very pleased with the animals...my sister is 17 and im 16 and traveling alone on a plane we thought we were going to have a very hard time but once we got to the zoo everything worked out really well.

not worth the bother
the place is very exspensive for a zoo. I have been to many better ones. It is very limited and just messy. The Orangatangs are just sad. Most the animals are not visable and the layout overlaps and makes you walk more than nessasary - I guess to make you think the place is larger? I don't know who walks around grant park but I wouldn't even in the daylight. If you hadn't read Atlanta has one of the worst crime rates of large cities- and pollution and traffic. Too bad that everyone seems to think you have to stick things down there.. if it wasn't for the zoo getting all the schools to bring down masses of kids to keep them afloat .. Overpriced and not worth it. I wonder who is writing these positive reviews? employees?

Great Experience
I love the Atlanta Zoo. It is in a great neighborhood and is well maintained. It has a fine selection of animals but is not so big that you get exhausted trying to see it all.

Loved it!
I really enjoyed the zoo. There were lots of animals but we went on Sunday afternoon and alot of the animals were asleep. The primates were by far the best animals we saw that day!

Awesome experience
I'm a college student and I love going to the Atlanta zoo. It's still fun, even at my age. The gorillas and pandas are the best. As far as those negative reviews about the pricing and size... How can you expect the zoo to have cheap admission AND expand!?! The price is decent... only a few dollars more than catching a movie! Also, it's fun to take a picnic and eat in Grant Park.

geared for little kids
There wasn't a great selection of animals, and the animals were hard to see (poor design). They had a petting zoo and playground for little kids, but my kids (12 and 14) were not interested in that, and we saw the whole park in one hour.

Get there early!
Make sure you get there first thing in the morning, otherwise you'll just get to see a sleeping furry dot way off in the distance. They feed the animals in the morning then they nod off for a nice long afternoon nap. Make your way to the very end of the zoo and then make your way back to the front. The Pandas are towards the back end of the zoo.

It's An OK Zoo
But I expected more for the money. There are other cities Atlanta's size that have a wider variety of animals and the admission is much less. It appears that they have devoted a great deal of time, money and real estate to providing habitat's for the lowland gorilla, orangutan and panda bear at the expense of the of the rest of the animal kingdom. If you really like lowland gorilla's, orangutan's and panda bear's then you might find it a good deal.

Zoo Who? Seriously?
I guess it just depends on where you're from or where you've been. Obviously the people who wrote great reviews are from really small towns in the middle of nowhere or dont get out very often. I guess to really enjoy the exibits are to know the feeding time schedules. These animals looked so bored and didnt move an inch. There were not many animals to see. I caught the gorilla at feeding time so that was cool. Everything else was horrible besides the gift shop. The flamingo's are the first exibit comiing in. They look more filthier than the piegons in NY. Nothing special about this place.
