Surrounded by oak trees and framed with a ring of stones, this unusual rock formation has caused many generations to wonder. Legend has it that an inebriated monk returning to Innishfallen was awe-struck by the beauty before him. He began to pray but sank into a drunken slumber for 200 years. When he awoke, there were two holes worn into the stone by his knees. According to archaeologists, the holes are the result of grinding grain in a circular pattern. Which story do you prefer?
