exhibits need updating
The new fine arts exhibit is very nice looking, but was in stark contrast to the rest of the displays. The archaeology and natural history displays are in dire need of renovation and look old. Photo murals were severely faded. The carpeting in the biology exhibit was worn and unbelievably stained. The sound of the various video programs (which we mostly enjoyed) tended to compete against each other and created an irritating level of noise in the upper galleries. We finally gave up on trying to listen to the video program about the pictographs/petroglyphs, besides the noise it would have helped to have a bench to sit on. The Egyptian exhibit was disappointing and imparted very little information, not sure why it was even there. I didn't like the "what do you think happened" educational questions that were posed, I'm there to learn something. What is the point of reconstructing the Egyptian mural and then having it knocked down by a floor board?

car thieves while at witte
last time we went, I parked the truck on the side in front of the Sushi restaurant that shares the parking lot with the Witte, and a man and woman tried breaking into my truck as I walked away, this was at 10 am with lots of workers and old people loitering right in the parking lot. After I reported this to security, they told me it was a very common problem, at least the license plate number I got was helpful to them. The cameras are located in only one area (now I know), so I don't feel safe at all going to the Witte anymore. I knew the neighborhood is full of crime, but I thought the Witte and Brackenridge Park security were adequate, now I know they aren't. Hopefully they are adding more parking soon with more security, but I don't see it happening yet.

we have been there and plan on going back again
The HEB Tree house is GREAT for kids! My son had a blast playing there. They have activities for all aged children. If you go on certain days at certain times it is free to get in.

Witte Wild Fun
I love the witte, its a friendly atmosphere, with a lot of information. The staff is nice, and it's truly wild fun!! The dinosaur display was awesome, it's fun look at all the bees in that they have. Plus all the bugs, and it's very hands on. Kids would thoroughly enjoy it as well as Adults.
