Romanticism and history: hardly a place offers more of both. As early as 1472, the building in the Hart's lane was mentioned. In the 19th Century, it served as the duelling corps for their Mensur duels, thus being a place for wild drinking sessions. Mark Twain wrote, "Sometimes spectators of these duels faint, and it does seem a very reasonable thing to do." Today the evidence of this time is still visible in the restaurant Mensurstube. However, all that is romantic is also prevalent: the first documentation in 1472 mentions a romance and the hotel nowadays is truly prepared for lovestories - luxurious suites that are very comfortably furnished in a Laura Ashley style. It is the ideal ambience for history enthusiasts and those in love.
