This elegant, classical building has been the presidential seat since Lech Walêsa moved there from the Belvedere in 1994. Two monumental events in recent Polish history took place here - the signing of the Warsaw Treaty in 1955 and the Round Table Talks in 1989. The main body of the building was erected in 1645 by the architect Constantino Tecallo with side wings being added in 1740 by Antonio Solari. The final reconstruction took place in 1818-1819 by Christian Peter Aigner. In the courtyard is a statue of Joseph Poniatowski, nephew of the last Polish king, who fought heroically in the Warsaw Uprising.NYC Best Hotel Deals: 50% Savings In New York!
