Well worth a visit
My husband, his sister and her husband and I visited the fort when we came on a cruise ship. We could see it from the ship and walked over. It was very reasonable to get in, the exhibits were very well presented, and there were good views from the walls. I highly recommend it.

Fort San Diego
The Yope people did not defend the fort -- it was begun in 1614, almost 100 years after Cortés. And it was not 'damaged' in the 1776 earthquake but almost destroyed and had to be completely rebuilt.
