Terrible!!!!!!!
After reading the previous reviews dated 2006, 2005 I am in shock to say that now in 2009 everything is still the same!!!! I can't believe how management has not fixed or updated the hotel. I stayed there twice because of its location.. each time for only one night but I Honestly did it because of the price. The showers don't work, the room smells old and like smoke, the bathroom air vent was filled with mold and dust, the breakfast is STILL ham and cheese sandwiches (like one review stated from 2005), theelevators STILL don't work, the TV's volume was busted and had to call for service. Overrall I DO NOT RECOMMEND this hotel. Both times something gave me such a bad allergic reaction that I had to go to Walgreens and buy benadryl. Real bad honestly and this is from the God's honest truth.

AWFUL...
It was terrible....there were roaches in the bathroom...mold in the ceiling of bathroom and sleeping area that was apparently painted over...old musty smell as you walk in the room...absolutely no guest parking...park a block away and walk, cannot utilize the back entrance if you have children, it if through the casino...television reception was terrible...sliding glass door was broken and masking/duct tape place over the crack in the glass to prevent it from falling apart...deodorizers placed in the vent of the air condition unit to mask the mold and must smell. We were stuck because be paid for the stay in advance and could not get our money back, so we got there late at night slept and left early in the morning. We spent no extra time in that place!! Would definitely not recommend to anyone!

Budget hotel yes luxury hotel no!
While at some time in her past the Diamon Palace may have been a palace but she has long since lost her luster. The rooms are not so much as dirty as they are dingy. I find it hard to write this review because of the staff who were excellent co-operative and helpfull even thoughtfull. The housekeeping staff provided exta towels and sheets for our baby once they saw the crib in our room. One of the staff offered to take the baby bottles downstairs to the kitchen and run then through the steam sanitizer. Can not say enough about the staff. The room was small the tv is small the AC had two settings ice age and off. As someone from the carribean if you are going to have an AC with only two settings those are the you pick. But I was not alone traveling with a baby and my wife who remained bundled up the entire time we were in the room. If the Palace has a redeeming quality its location location location Walgreens across the street, Starbucks around the corner fine dining and shops in every direction central to bus lines and hailing a taxi was a mere nod to one of the finest set of gentlemen bellman in the carribean. If you are on a Budget this will be the best bang for your buck. Its a older hotel in need of renovations and some upgrades knowing what I know now I would recommend this hotel travelers of all types on a budget.

the most friendly service in all of San Juan
First off I would like like to state Puerto Rico was amazing! from the moment we arrived at the hotel to the moment we left everything was perfect! So its not the most luxurious hotel, hands down, but if your going for the "real" Puerto Rican experience this is the place to be at..The staff is extremely helpful and most if not all speak fluent English..They were always so excited and willing to provide us with any information we needed..The rooms are fully equipped with the basics ex iron, blow dyer , ironing board, tv ect..but who really goes to PR to stay in a room when there are soo many activities to do? The room service is great..The housekeeping crew never disturbed us as we were never in the hotel, they came in early and clean up ur beds..if we had some of our belongings on the bed it was left unmade, which is a plus because I would rather not have anyone going through my things..clean towels and toilet paper were always provided..The room is not speactacular but the view from the balcony is amazing! the location is awesome, whenever we had to make a run for cigs or just anything, there was a 24 hr Walgreens right across the street, thats always a plus..the Hotel is located on the Condado strip full of bars and restaurants..My personal fav which I greatly recommend to any tourist is the tiny restaurant located inside the hotel in the pool area..it was by far the BEST food in PR that we had ..the lunch speacial is only 5.25 and the portions are significant..not to mention they had a variety of the best typical PRican food in town..Most of the locals visit this spot for lunch and so did many tourists who stayed on the strip but not at the diamond palace ..

did not care for
Old, outdated, BUGS, needing lots of repair, very neglected. Paid to much for what it was. I would suggest a total renovation. It's very close to the beach so that's a plus. Other than that I would say find somewhere else to stay. There were other hotels much nicer only a couple blocks away.

A Palace it is not!
Lets start of with the bucket in the hotel lobby catching water from who knows where. Then proceed to the "underly helpful" hotel staff, that could care less that you are paying them to stay in the hotel. Then lets catch the very slow, very house of terror elevator. Then arrive at your room and look at the hotel room the looks nothing like the pictures, you should probably never take your shoes off or atleast dont walk around with your white socks on, they might be black when you get done. Why dont you go and visit there beautiful restaurant that they show on there website...oh wait, that must have been taken at another hotel.

Worst Customer Service In History Of A Front Desk
Diamond Palace roach motel has bad service maybe if the service was okay the room might not have been so bad. I saw the bad reviews but I thought let's give them a chance. Management gave me wrong figures never apologized. Spoke their beautiful language of spanish. The front desk clerk even told me about my personal finances. A customer is should never be answered back. And in their spanish language they disrespectfully talked about me. But was to shock that I understood their language how rude. I will never settle for such less ever again. If my regular hotel is full I will not be going to Puerto Rico. I have been going to Puerto Rico for over ten years and loved it. This has been my worst experience I almost disliked it. Don't take your chances unless you like to settle for less.

Aw ful customer service
I had a 2 day reservation to stay a this location. On my travel date we had a snow storm so my flight was delayed. My wife called and told the clerk about the delay and was not sure what time I would arrive.

"Mistake"
Hotel misrepresents itself. Just spent two days in Feb. 07 there and was horrified by the conditions. Hotel is very old and in dire need of renovations/face lift. Within first hour I had to change rooms because the cable was out in the entire line of rooms that I was first given. The pool was tiny and not cleaned properly throughout the day. There was no extra security for the room door at night, ie. bolt or second lock. The morning after my first night maid service knocked on my door at 8:05 A.M. and asked if I wanted my room cleaned. Since I turned them away and asked them to return later, they never showed up and my room was never cleaned throughout my stay. The televisions in the rooms are about twelve inches diameter. The staff and employees at the hotel are somewhat standoffish and were not the most courteous. Would never stay there again or recommend to anyone.
