Bayside Place, subtitled "Hakata Wharf," is a charming collection of shops and restaurants built on the water near Hakata Port. Inside, there is also an aquarium. In the surrounding area, there is a year-round snowboard park, the 103-meter Port Tower Hakata (free!), a terminal for ferries connecting with various destinations in and around the bay, and plenty of dock space for small events throughout the year--even private weddings.
