Great Stay!!! Heading back in 1 month.
I loved the stay here. I stayed here for work in November 2008 and I loved the hotel. Everyone was very nice, I do not speak Spanish so they spoke English with me and the room was very comfortable. Hotel has tons of things to do. They have the workout area, pool, bar, restaurants, places to get a massage and a cigar store ( which I loved for the Cohibas). I thought the food was good and the room was very nice. Bed was comfortable. You get what you pay for. Obviously some of the negative reviewers did not pay for a good room. My only dislike was that I was in a room on the inside of the circle of the hotel right above the lobby. They have live bands until 11 and there was a soccer tournament going on so it was loud until about 11. I am going back in Febuary 2009 for work again and I am looking forward to it.

Wonderful Hotel
Stayed here for work, upgraded me to a suite upon arrival. Rooftop pool very nice, great shopping nearby and nice resaurants. One downfall is that there was no wireless internet connection, but not many hotels in Mexico offer one, anyway.

good hotel stay
I had meetings in the area so the hotel was a perfect location for me, but not a great location for tourist. The restaurant was expensive, but the food was well prepared and I would eat there again. The rooms were large, but just OK. The greatest thing about the hotel was the staff. Not only did the concierge run down the street to get bus tickets for us, but the front desk clerk made sure we got everything we wanted.

Sucks
I am a platinum member with these guys and this is by far the worst InterContinental I have ever stayed at across the globe. The food is horrible (especially at the prices they charge like $18 for cereal in the mornings) You may enjoy the huge contingent of hookers in the bar, but I did not really like that aspect. The rooms are dirty and the staff lazy.

Worth the price
I've stayed in several hotels in GDL. This is by far the best value for the money. Join the priorityclub w/holiday inn and earn points and upgrades. This hotel is located across from a mall (plaza del sol) and has easy bus service to the main mall by bus - a 10 minute ride. Central (downtown) is less than 15 minutes by bus. The two major markets are less than 20 minutes by taxi (less than 10.00 each way)...this hotel is central to most everything! The Bull fights are less than 20 minutes away - I suggest everyone see this even just once - what fun! I'm not going to mention the club's...there are many. I see why this wonderful city is known as the "San Francisco" of Mexico.

Good location for the best nightclubs.
Plaza del Sol is directly across the street from this hotel. The location is perfect for going to nightclubs and la vida loca. I expected the rooms to be larger and better appointed. The buffets offered here are not of very good quality. Everyone from the bell hops to the manager were very attentive. There are less expensive hotels with nicer rooms located two to three blocks from here. Overall this hotel is not a good value.
