There Are Better Choices
When I made reservation, I specifically asked for a non-smoking room. Even though they gave us one, the room reeked of smoke. When we asked for another room, we were told there were no others (aw come on - it was still early in the day and I had a hard time believing the couldn’t switch us). Housekeeping needs to do a better job because there were toe nail clippings on the window ledge - gross. We could hear doors slamming and people walking up and down the hallway all evening - not very quiet. This hotels biggest virtue is it's location, although there are several other better hotels, at comparable prices, in the area which are better choices.

A Back Bay Fave
Outstanding location. Shopping malls and the Boston T was right outside our front door. Just ideal location. Hotel was a bit pricey but its hard to complain considering all that is in the hotel and room.

I would recommend to everyone!
I reviewed many hotels before I settled on the Colonnade Hotel and I was not disappointed. The service was great and helped with questions about transportation and places to see. When we first arrived we had a problem with our toilet running, after a call to the front desk a repair man came right up and fixed it within ten minutes of our call. That's service! The hotel itself was very beautiful and elegant. We definitely got our moneys worth.

A nightmare
My friends and I had reserved 2 rooms and had spoke with the reservation staff regarding adjoining rooms/early check in to make the most of the pool area. We were there for a bachelorette party. We were not able to check into our rooms until 3:45pm, 2 hours and 45 minutes after arriving. By then, we needed to get ready as we had dinner reservations. Once we were on route to our rooms the bell hop of all people decided to tell us "he knew we had booze in our bags and he was calling management." I am 31 years old, so you can imagine my rage, as well as the fact the bell hop had our bags for the nearly 3 hours we waited for our rooms and were in the bar waiting, so he had searched our bags? When management was called he began to shake one of our 5 bags, dropping it and hitting my sister in the leg! It was a horrible experience and not worth the money, we wished we had payed the little bit more and gone some where else or rented a limo for the night, it would have been cheaper and we would not have felt so much stress during what was suppose to be a nice, fun night.

Overpriced- Even for Boston
Great location with mall, Hynes convention center across street, lots of restaurants nearby, and the staff was very helpful.

WHEN IN BOSTON... STAY AT THE COLONNADE
We stayed at the Colonnade while we were in Boston attending the AARP Convention. We arrived early in the morning to the hotel and was ready to just check in our luggage, but surprisingly our room was ready. The room was on the 7th floor overlooking Huntington Avenue. We couldn't have been happier with the cleanliness, comfortable beds, decor, and in general the location of the hotel. It is in great walking distance to everything (even a grocery store to pick up snacks). We also found the hotel staff to be very friendly, courteous and helpful during our stay. Jimmy the bellman and Norman the doorman were great! The only negative thing I have to comment on is the on-site restaurant and it's staff. Although it is convenient I would definitely skip that on our next stay at the Colonnade.

No air conditioning and poor service
My husband, 9-month-old son, and I stayed at this hotel for a weekend in April to attend a wedding. We were pleased with everything until we got into the room and requested that the air conditioning be turned on. The hotel management said they would not turn on the A/C to the entire building. Instead, they suggested we open the windows. This was a completely unacceptable solution because my son, who is crawling, would have fallen out of the non-child-proofed windows that went down to about 2 feet above the floor. The outside temperature was 65-70 degrees. We sweltered anytime we were in the room, and the management was entirely unhelpful. When I stay in a nice hotel -- in an urban area especially -- I want A/C and a barrier from the street noise and air pollution. Stay down the street at the Marriott or the Westin, at least if you're visiting Boston in April. The Collonade is too cheap to turn on your AC.

Will visit again
The Colonnade served our every purpose for our visit to Boston. We went for our daughters 10th birthday to see the Red Sox and the location was perfect. The staff was tremendous from helpful hints for dining to directions to sites. They even sent free dessert room service to our daughter on our last night. Absolutely staying here again for the Red Sox playoff games.
