Perfect location, wonderful staff and great food!
Despite reading some negative reviews, we were happy that we decided to stay at the British Colonial Hilton while on a recent eight day family holiday in the Bahamas. Contrary to the reviews, we found all the staff including housekeeping (especially Judy) to be genuinely warm, friendly and extremely helpful. We experienced the warm hospitality from the moment we were greeted at the check-in desk by Leneisha to the day we left. We would like to specially mention all the staff on the Executive floor. They went out of their way to make our stay relaxing, comfortable and enjoyable. Our room was also spacious and nice. While enjoying the good ocean, beach and pool view from our room, we were able to watch cruise ships as they come in each day to dock nearby.

3 days of fun
I liked this hotel. A few people on staff need a little "refresher" in hospitality. The only thing I did not like was the size of the rooms. They are TINY!!! not that I spent much time in my room. But still, the bed took up half of our room. Aside from that, we had a good view of the beach, watched the cruise ships dock. Loved the bathroom shower!! clear glass, a bit on the small side though. A pleasant experience for both myself and my honey. We will come here again.

Ups and Downs
This is a beautiful hotel. The water is awesome. The pool was great. Some of the staff (Phillip and Gerrard) were really nice and fun to talk to. However, the vast majority of the staff really had a poor attitude. A 15% gratuity is automatically added to every food or drink item and the service reflects the fact that they don't have to work for it. The price for everything is over the top outrageous. $15 for a hamburger (plus 15%). The Fish Fry area of town was very sub par in terms of quality food and was pretty expensive too. So we found it better to pay the extra at the hotel and have pretty good food. Paradise Island is fun and we spent quite of bit of time over there, but the reality is the Hilton is a good business travel hotel, not a good place for a vacation. Further, the rooms were clean and bed comfortable, but very tiny, and the windows don't open. And the internet is $20 per day.

Tiny
I was overly dissatisfied with the disorganized nature of the Bahamas, and the Hilton didn't escape this disorganization. This hotel wasn't concrete on correct departure dates, which was annoying and led to many confused phone calls from hotel staff. The room was very clean, but loud and tiny. I could hear everything from the room next door, but maybe it's because I felt like I was in a closet. Also, my room was far too cold.

We are going back in August 07
Courtious & Polite. The wait staff was very Professional and simply put, Brilliant! We enjoyed everyone at the hotel. From the moment we walked in the door until the day we left they all knew us by name. The staff went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable! We found it very easy to get around Nassau and some of the other out islands. The food was excellent every where we went including the hotel. The breakfast was lovely and dinner was even better. From sailing in the evening with champayne and cheese to scooting around town on motor bike, visiting landmarks, gambling at the casino's or just shopping it was a real surprise! Our last stay was Feburary 2007 and we are on the way back!!!!

Hilton is all about Location
In May 2007 my wife and I spent a week in the Bahamas at the British Colonial Hilton. The Hilton is all about Location, Location and Location. Hilton all the way, an attentive and friendly staff, its own private beach, makes this a fine choice to enjoy the Bahamas.
