One of the most beautiful towns on the Danube, Szentendre sits at the edge of the famous Danube bend. The town existed in Roman times (known as the 'Wolf Camp'), but there were also other influences: it was resettled after Turkish occupation by Serbs, Greeks, Dalmatians, Germans and of course Hungarians. You can get here by car (Highway 11, 20 kilometres, 35 minutes), by boat (one and a half hours and by far the most scenic option) or by HEV train (30 minutes).
