Mons Belli is the highest strategic guard and defensive position in the Val Marecchia with a broad panoramic view over the entire valley. Its feudal origins are perceived within its 1000-year-old walls, the epoch of splendor under the Malatesta and the residential extension built by the Conti Guidi di Bagno who received this stronghold from Pope Pius II when Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta, who rebelled against papal authority, was vanquished in 1464. In addition to a parish church from 1000, now transformed into an armory, the "Rocca dei Guidi" is famous for the "Leggenda di Azzurrina," a small creature which, it is said, died in the castle in mysterious circumstances and populates the castle with its voice even today. The many charms of this place can be discovered through guided tours. Among the typical traditional festivals, there is the "Festa di Miele" (honey festival) on the last Sunday in August and first Sunday in September, with its characteristic bargain menus and sale of natural products.
