Back to Marriott Budapest Hotel Two years ago Tauck tours stayed there two years ago. I was not impressed. Unremarkable but clean. Tauck has now moved on.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Aug 07 2009 A Blot on the Riverscape.I can't wait to get away!!! I have complained endlessly about the atrocious blight that the Marriott has inflicted on the Danube Promenade..200 to 300 metres of beautiful walk way has been ruined for the past months. It is a builders yard...................I realise that this work needs materials but the Marriott management have not had the courtesy, the thought, the intelligence to attempt to hide their atrocious mess..........................An architectural hoarding could have been constructed..It could for the time of the refurbishment become a point of interest..It does not take a leap of ingenuity and imagination but they seem not to possess an ounce.....It beggars belief that they should care so little for their visitors and residents that they inflict this on the Hungarian river scape.............The Budapest Times have printed a letter ...All the manager in his wisdom (?) can offer me is a visit to see the interior and hope that I will enjoy my visit when i care to stay...Which I have told him will be never!!!!Any company that lacks the basic skills of public relations will not be recommended by me to any of my colleagues and friends.............................I happen to live opposite this builders yard on the Buda side .I waited for some festive decoration on the site,I waited for a notice to apologise to those passing by....................I have waited in vain............................................Where is Mr Marriott in all of this ? I believe he lives on his ranch ...Let him see what is inflicted in his name...Surely he would be ashamed too...
Reviewed by: Filmex from on Dec 27 2007 Clean, comfortable but unremarkable The Budapest Marriott is a safe, comfortable and predicable place to stay centrally located very near the Danube and tourist sites on the Pest side. On-site pay parking and relatively friendly staff. Piano bar and several eating choices within. Interior decoration has many standard Marriott features (such as dark wood paneling and brass). The interior common spaces are also large and relaxed/informal which is not typical in Europe (note Marriotts standard room is smaller than what you will find in the US). But over all, this hotel is unremarkable. Of all the Marriotts Ive stayed in world wide, this one ranks in the bottom 50%. An androgynous box-shaped building which does not fit in with Budapests fin de siècle architecture, the Marriott houses 100s of cookie cutter rooms (which again, are not that large). Consistent with Marriott world-wide policy, they charge extra for everything (breakfast, parking etc. Note: the European hotel model is to include breakfast its where Americans get the term continental breakfast Europe was the continent they were talking about). The Budapest Marriott is fine for business travel and Id perhaps stay there again, but if youre in Budapest on vacation and want something more interesting, the Le Meridian and Four Seasons will far exceed the Marriott.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Dec 03 2005 Budapest Marriott I have been staying at the Budapest Marriot for numerous years now and enjoy the accomidations. Being very local to many points of interest, you can see numerous sights and enjoy historical landmarks all within a close proximity. The views offered over the Danube River are very impressive and in the evening when the Lanc Hid "Chain Bridge" is illuminated, the romantic city can truly leave a lasting impression which will last a lifetime. The Hotel is very clean and the staff very friendly.
