The Prado is a must see in Madrid!!!!!!!
My mom and I spent a couple of hours in the Prado last year while we were on a tour of Spain. There wasn't one thing I disliked about the Prado. I understand now more why it's one of the foremost national museums in the world. The works by Goya , Valesquez and the other artists of the 15th-18th centuries are simply breathtaking. These works are pricesless and once you've been to the Prado, one visit is n't nearly enough. This is a museum that you'll ant to return to time and time again!!!!!!!!

wow
I am not really the type of person who is into art museums, but i was still able to enjoy everything here. I loved the Goya section. I went to the Prado about a week after i went to the Louvre, and I must say i enjoyed the Prado more. I don't know what it is, but it pulls you in. I would Definitely visit again if i could.

I waited my whole life and was not disappointed!
Greco, Goya, even a Rembrandt oh my!Bring your walking shoes and a tour book. (If you are a teacher they advertise free admission but would not give it to me because I did not have the appropriate id. I could not figure out what an appropriate Id was since I had several id's with me. I am guessing they wanted a picture id from your school, which I did not have. But the person at the box office was vague and rude.)Speaking of rude, The staff are a bit rude in general but who cares you are at the one of the world's top ranked museums seeing the greats. The admission is cheap 6 eruos which is about 9 bucks USD.I don't know any local museums in the US that are even that cheap, never mind the fact that you are at this famous great! Lots of walking, be prepared and awake. Spend 6 or more hours here. They have free admission a few hours in the late afternoons several days a week. (Not sure the days but I know Sunday is one of them). so break it up if you can as an option too if you can't walk as much. But no matter what be prepared to wait. The lines are very long but they do go pretty fast. I am guessing in the summer it might be very bad, we went in March. After here make sure to visit Retiro Park which is so beautiful you can just cry! Outside the museum they had some cool statues outside on the street. Enjoy! PS- tsk, tsk, tsk no photography allowed inside the museum of course.

For those who appreciate history , culture and art
If you are in Madrid set aside time enough to enjoy the wonderful art collection at the Prado Museum. If you have a little extra money they have a shop in side with post cards of some of the paintings and books o the artists' history. The piece I enjoyed the most was to see La Guernica in person. It is so big and beautiful! In the gallery area where it is kept there are rough sketches of different sections of the painting that were made before the total completion of the piece. I recommend it to everyone, it was completely worth my time; if I return I will visit again.

Prado
Fantastic. One of the greatest art museums in the world! The Goya are a must! The El Greco's are mind boggling! The Riberas and Velasquez are beyond words. The van der Weyden is not to miss.
