It is one of the three surviving religious buildings in Santander, along with the cathedral and the Cripta del Cristo, which exemplify a well-defined architectural style. Known locally as La Compañía in reference to the Compañía de Jesús (or Jesuits), the church is found beside Plaza Porticada. Construction work began in 18th century. The façade is made up of three segments, the middle section being the highest and most impressive. On the second floor of the central section is a rectangular window flanked by the coat of arms of the first Marquis of Villapuente, who provided the funds for the completion of the building. Mass is conducted at: M-Sa 6p, 7p, 8:45p; Su 9a, 10a, 11a, Noon, 1p, 1:45p, 7p, 8:45p.
