When Charles Back's grandfather bought the farm in 1938, wine-making was already established - folklore tells of a doctor who prescribed teaspoons of the farm's wines to ill children. Charles Back was recognised as South African Wine Maker of the Year in 1996. Several of the estate's wines have also won acclaim at prestigious events.
