My encounter with Sogo department store in Taiwan was an experience that I will never forget. My wife and seven month old child accompanied me. We were there during the Christmas 2005 and New Years of 2006.

When I first arrived at Taipei, Taiwan, I was thinking that this city would have some nice spots that a person could go for some fun on leisure time. When I first stood in front of the Sogo department store in Taipei, watched the clock at the entrance come to life, and looked up in awe at the height of this multi-story department store, my view was assured. From the curtain of air conditioning and the first step inside, my eyes never got a rest. Every floor had something different, for example, the basement had resturants, bakeries, and the like, while the first floor specialized in stores such as lancome (why do they always seem to come from paris?) that sell perfume, etc.. I kept going up and found floors that specialized in almost anything that I could think of. Although some prices seemed a bit steep, for a one stop shop-a-thon and basically fun place to go, Sogo was the store for me.
