The Aillwee Caves are set in the limestone landscape known as the Burren, Co. Clare, which overlooks the countryside and has panoramic views of Galway Bay. Formed by underground water streams, the result is an array of spectacular rock formations that have remained virtually unchanged since the Ice Age. Admire the "praying hands" and "bunch of carrots" formations. Experience the sound of absolute darkness. A shop, farm kitchen and craft shop are available. The caves can be seen from March through November.
