Back to Harrington Boutique Accommodation Harrington's 102 A hotel to avoid My wife and I have been travelling for 30yrs. We booked a compact room via the net, for two nights at $115 per night, and made the mistake of paying in full, in advance with no photos of that style of room. But the hotel says its luxury and good value. It is located next to a tattoo parlour, which adjoins a sex shop. It was a TINY room- the bed was squashed against the wall, so my wife had to climb over me to get out, and the end of it was about 40 cm from the bar fridge and jug. There was no ventilation (how would you survive in summer) and no heater evident. We had a “window” of glass bricks with a dirty, broken plastic roll up blind to keep the light out. A tiny TV was on a bracket. The aerial was not properly connected so it was “ghost” TV. Unfortunately the carpet was stained and dirty and the toilet flush and shower screen were faulty. (The screen wouldn’t close at all, so we had a wet bathroon floor for two days!) The towels were threadbare (in fact they came apart at the edges when we used them, and we are not harsh users). It was VERY noisy- the walls are so thin you can hear people talking, walking up the stairs etc (and the TV going in adjoining rooms). That is not uncommon in cheaper hotels, admittedly. Breakfast- very poor affair indeed: Any hotel that serves you instant coffee (International Roast- make it yourself) for breakfast is no hotel, as far as I’m concerned.
