A Fantastic Place
So pleased we came across this place, everything about it was outstanding, This restaurant was heads and shoulders above all the others we tried and was very reasonably priced, went there twice during our stay and looking forward to going back again. Highly recommend.

you really should try
their aubergine creme and avocado salad and any fish dish, not to mention some Hungarian dessert...and the daily specials! Nice atmosphere, cozy like your local, and there is a service here, you'll see! It is a must and if you don't like it, you are abnormally picky:)

Wish we could go back.
We did not make reservations, the place was full, consequently we were given the last table in the house...behind the entrance door. Soon after our wine arrived a table opened up in the middle of the room and they asked if we would like to move. Nice service. The cafe was very comfortable with what appeared to be many locals. Just what we were looking for. We were amazed at the stream of people that were turned away, they just kept coming. The food was excellent and the servers were young, up-beat and very helpful in explaining the menu. we loved everything about it...wish we could go again.

12 nights in Budapest
Excellent Food. Some of the very best in the city. Sadly only found this place during our 10th of 12th nights at the Four Seasons. Outside of the hotel's fare this was the best. Vodka & Caviar, Chicken Paprika, Hungarian Wines....all excellent.

I have become a regular
This place is one of the few restaurants in Budapest that offers a really international hungarian menu with several options and a really high level of consistency towards the quality of the meal. I first started going to this restaurant about two years ago when I first moved here and it has become one of my regular visists due to quality and environment, definitely a must try restaurant in Budapest.

A Great Little Place
I had heard good things about Cafe Kor so I was anxious to give it a try. I have to say that I was very pleased on the 3 occasions I ate there this last week ( Jan.2007) Compared to the rubbish I was served at Gundels last summer this place was a revelation. Not only is the service top notch but the food was wonderful. I had the roasted fois on my first visit and it was perhaps the best I've had in Hungary( and I have been there many times). For my next 2 meals I had the beef fillet and fois combo which was also outstanding. If you live in Europe you know how tough it can be to finda good steak . This one was tender and properly cooked medium rare.. Served with a slab of fois melting on top along with a grilled mushroom and demi glace It was so good I had it again a couple of days later. The cream soups are excellent though I have to say I was disappointed with the game broth and its rubbery meat balls.. I would also avoid the croquettes as they seemed rather heavy. If possible order the mashed potatos which are sometimes on the menu.

What ididot rated this?
Poor food for money. Not international. Smoky. Nice, polite waiters don't mean the food is also good. This is mainly an expat hangout so this explains the high price for the value you get. It is time the expacts moved onto a better place.

Favorite Restaurant in Budapest
Small and cozy restaurant with very good service. Food is always great, usually will order off the specials menu. Have champagne or palinka to start. Wine selection is mostly Hungarian wines (I would prefer a more international selection however). I recommend the beef tartar, liver pate, and anything that comes with croquettes.

Cor at Kor!
Great food reasonably priced. I had the Steak Tartare - a truely huge portion, and also a goose liver based dish - gorgeous.
