Casa Pardo or, as it also called, the Palacio de los Botín, is in the chic residential part of the city, beside the classy Hotel Real with magnificent views out over the bay. It was built as a private residence for Don Adolfo Pardo in 1915 by the Santander architect Javier González Riancho, who also designed Hotel Real and the Palacio Real de La Magdalena.Inspired by regional architectural styles of the period it incorporates a crenellated tower and south-facing colonnade, but also takes a certain amount of stylistic liberties. It is a fine example of the many luxury private homes built in Santander at the turn of the century, a trend instigated by the summer residence of the Spanish Royal Family in the city.
