Back to Mas des Oliviers (Le) Excellent One of my favorite Montreal secrets. The powerful and mighty can be found rubbing shoulders regardless of party affiliation. Food is wonderful and the wine..derar god the wine!
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jun 17 2008 Spoiled birthday The meal is very good, but there is always something that may spoil one’s impression. In our case it was (guess what?) – owner’s behaviour. We were unpleasantly surprised how the owner treats his clients. The principle “client is always right” has been ruled out in this place. The truth is that the bill was excessive (not a big deal, some 30 bucks extra). So, we simply didn’t leave usual tips (not a big deal either). We didn’t declare a war, but the owner did. He came to our table and made a whole scandals in front of everyone who was around, yelling that in Quebec tips are 18% (have you ever heard about that?!) and that we occupied the table for 3 hours… Total lack of respect for himself first of all! ... Completely spoiled birthday :(
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Nov 15 2007 been returning for over 20 years This little gem of a restaurant, although well known to local residents, probably does not get the tourist trade it ought to because it is a bit off the beaten path that visitors usually trod along the Rue St. Denis and in the Old City. WELL worth the short trip to get there, this place has been drawing us back again and again over twenty some years. The place is charming, the hosts warm and inviting, the food fabulous and the whole experience a plus. don't miss it
