Great Historical Moments Come Alive
Tu-F 9a-6p, Sa-Su 10a-7pPhilippines had trade ties with China and the cultural exchange slowly spread to all aspects of life. The unique ceramic collection titled 'A Millennium of Contact' offers visitors a chance to view an array of 500 ceramic works. These brightly colored artifacts range from tea cups to other kitchenware and remain an evidence of how close the world was even before globalization began.
Boat Gallery is a permanent exhibit of maritime history of local and foreign shops that docked in Philippines. From the ancient 600 B.C. old to the present ones, these handcrafted models of Pre-Hispanic, Chinese Junk, Baghlas, Lorchas and Galleons tell the story of ship-building. See the exquisite clothing rich Filipino men and women wore in the 17th century and before. Embroidered Multiples exhibits the heavily embroidered silk trousers or sayasaya used by men and the nipis or blouses worn by beautiful women. All that glitters here is gold! Around 1000 objects from ancient times till the country became a colony are on display at the Gold of Ancestors exhibition. Idols of gods and goddesses, ornaments, necklaces, earrings and many more things hint that a very developed civilization existed here. Check the website for timings.
Visit the Ayala museum to see The Diorama Experience, a sculptural display of woodcarved statues. A visit to this exhibit will give you an insight into the history of Philippines. I was able to go here... for the first time... for the so-called field trip of the Makati BnG week. ...
