The park is high on a long promontory, surrounded by cliffs between Mataleñas beach and the beaches of El Sardinero. From up here you get fabulous views over the city. Covering 230000 square meters, it is one of Santander's largest and loveliest municipal parks. Vegetation is varied; there are woodland and meadow areas and even a public golf course, which opened in 1986 and was the first of its kind in Spain. For sports enthusiasts, there's an athletics track. If you are feeling a little less energetic, visit the zoo with its kangaroos, deer and lake.
