This museum is the first of its kind in the Philippines and one of only a handful around the world. Housed in an artistically restored former rice mill (built circa 1860), this museum traces the history of the shoe industry in Marikina, the Philippines' shoe-making capital. Among the exhibits are the famous (or infamous) collection of 1,500 pairs that once belonged to Imelda Marcos. Other displays of historical value and human interest are shoes of former Philippine presidents and their first ladies. Enjoy a trip to the past on foot at this museum!

Marikina Shoe Museum Collection
Jan 1st, 2009 to Dec 31st, 2009

It's almost impossible to see so many shoes under one roof but the Collection at the Shoe Museum in Marikina is an exception. The 3000 finely crafted pairs will leave you spell bound. The most interesting part is the 800 pairs that belong to First Lady Imelda Marcos. Made from skins of alligators, snakes, pigs, calfs and sheep and beautifully designed for her excellency, these are a great art collection in themselves and worth a visit.
