This extraordinarily designed restaurant dates from the turn of last century. Despite an overhaul on the decor, it beams you back into an entirely different era. Situated not far from Escher-Wyss Square, it specialises in the unpretentious Swiss culture of gastronomy. Considerable accent lies on the freshest of ingredients, with nearly all the produce originating from small local farmers and outlets with high regard for organic and eco-friendly food. The dishes to look out for in the normally very busy Alpenrose are the 'Älplermakaronen' (Alpine macaroni) and the 'Bündner Pizokel'.
