In 1974, when the Capitole Theatre was closed for renovation, the famous Toulouse conductor, Michel Plasson, discovered this magnificent octagonal hall, built in 1861 by the architect, André Denat. At that time it was used for sports' tournaments and electoral meetings. That posed no problem for Michel Plasson, who, enchanted by its excellent acoustics, installed the Capitole Orchestra there. Since then, it has undergone restoration and become a haven of classical music in Toulouse.
