The room was filled with people of all ages, all of whom joined in the laughter. The food was enjoyable and we found it fascinating to meet and talk to others who were seated at our table. Is this Shakespeare? No. If you don't understand the venue which includes improv and melodrama, then you would be disappointed. If you want actors like Matthew Broderick and Patti Lupone, you'll have to go to New York, or better yet, Shari, why don't you audition for the next show? We're sorry that Shari has champagne taste and a beer budget. She needs to understand that for an evening of forgeting war and economics in exchange for a good meal and laughter is well worth the $38 ticket. If she wants more she can go to Santa Fe for dinner, drop $200+ for the meal and drinks for two and then buy tickets to the opera for $120 a piece.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Oct 17 2004 Mystery Cafe not what I expected Just experienced Mystery Cafe last night. Thought it would be an entertaining thing to do for my fiance's birthday. Instead, I'm embarrassed to say that's what we did. You pay before you walk in, so if you're not too happy with what you see, you're stuck 'cause you just paid for dinner.....which starts off as abysmal when they try to pass of warm salted skim milk as cream of ? soup. As you walk in, you feel like you're there for Bingo night. Majority of the other attendees are senior citizens. We were sat on a table with 4 elderly ladies in their mid seventies. I immediately knew it was gonna be a long night. The acting is terrible. The mystery is set in Rio (Brazil), but the actors sounded like we were in Romania or Transylvania. It just really dragged on before each course, and it was torture.
