Back to Point Village Stolen Money I had over $500.00 US stolen from my room within the first 4 hours that I was there. According to the police report there was no forced entry and I and both keys with me when it happened.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Apr 04 2009 next time...someplace else First noticed lack of upkeep. Looks like a "tired retirement village". There were light fixtures in stairwell but no light bulbs; some walkway lights broken or missing. Told by guy who took our bags up for us that we could "smoke on the balcony". He didn't means cigarettes.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Feb 12 2009 beutiful location This is my fourth time to negril and first time at the point. I loved it! This place is beutiful and private. This is like a resort / condos people live here but most are foreign retired. This resort is at the begining of the 7mile beach, you can walk along the beach but you first encounter hedo hotel, nude beach but please don't stare keep walking to Sandals, Hah Hah.Point v has two small beaches, one is right next to hedo if you want to get naked, i loved hanging in and by the rock pools,AWESOME SUNSET.watch it there because the little island won't be in the way.I would't get married here no night life it's very quiet. If you want to go places you can take cabs or rent a car but the jamaicans drive offensively,THERE NUTS! its alright but pay attention, your on the other side of the road, left is right, right is left.Staff is friendly, food is good, bar is open till whenever, great, great snorkling, two person sail boats, glass bottom boat the two jamaicans that take you out are great guys.Don't come here expecting a 5 star resort, you get what you pay for.Rooms are fine, come on how long are you in your room,to sleep, shower,I don't shower on vacation, bathroom. The bathroom by the bar was '. bad' mens had no water in sinks. No ants in my room, bring some fabreeze spray for bed sheets, that's for any hotel room. There is nothing wrong with this place, you have to remember AMERICANS ARE SPOILED ROTTEN, IF YOU WANT TO BE PAMPERD,STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!! I WILL RETUN, Thank you guys I like point villiage. Almost forgot, bring a big plastic mug with a lid for drinking pinacolladas on the beach, arrive with a positive attitude and you won't wanna leave. 'YA MON'

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jan 28 2009 Don't go there! The worst holiday of my life. This is not a resort as most of the flats/rooms are privately owned. The security s barely there. I'm an experienced traveller, usually travelling solo and have been to most of the continent, however, this is the only place where I have felt intimidated by the local men. They won't take no for an answer. The 'resort' is in disrepair, the pool/jacuzzi is always closed and food is bland. The only bar never seems to be manned. I wasn't allowed to walk the 7 mile beach, which is why I booked the resort. I was turned back 3 times by neighbouring resort security staff. It felt like Stalag 13. I had to wait a week there until I was placed at another resort. Many tourists were moved whilst I was there. Also be aware of the Jamaican policy towards smoking drugs. I was stopped, searched and given a urine test at Montego Bay airport on the way back, by a grumpy security man who was unprovokedly nasty. I was told that if drugs were found in my urine sample I could be made to stay there. Very intimidating and uneccesary as I don't smoke drugs, just cigarettes. The test came back negative and I was allowed to leave. For the first time in my life, I was glad to be back home after having a holiday. I've complained and I'm waiting for a reply. Please think twice about this place, go somewhere else!!
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Sep 22 2008 STAY AWAY Point Village is old and in much need of an update and friendly staff. There is nothing I like about this place, except for the view from the beach of the little island. Staff very unfriendly and unwilling to help. They even let some of the locals live in the rooms. No electrical outlets in the bathroom. Please take my advice and do not stay here. I requested a transfer after 30 minutes of being there. The people of Jamaica all know about this place and they even said to stay away. One night in the place was too long.

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Apr 04 2008 Been twice. Going back! As long as you adopt a relaxed, laid-back attitude, you'll have a great time! I did in Nov 2007 and again in March 2008. I plan to go back in August 2008.

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Feb 10 2008 Honeymooner's Delight My (now) husband and I traveled to Point Village from 4/29/07-5/5/07. When we arrived we were put in a room very far from anything. We went to the desk and told them it was our honeymoon and that we would like to have a room a little closer to the sea. They were extremely accommodating and not even 5 minutes later there was a bell-boy at our door who took us to a room that was PERFECT for no extra charge!!! The food the entire time was absolutely wonderful! Fresh fruit every morning along with someone to make your own omelet! The drinks were all amazing and the staff was so polite and was always there to meet your needs! Yes, the rooms are slightly outdated, but look at Jamaica! It could use some help! The pool was always clean and the beach was spotless! I'd say that as long as you respect the staff, they will respect you. Other reviewers have left some nasty reviews, but perhaps they were rude to the staff. We did not experience any of the problems mentioned by other reviewers. So, overall, I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone of any age if you are looking for a great, relaxing vacation!
