The main attraction here is the impressive inventory of Californian modernists from the early and mid-20th century. The origin of the gallery is particularly interesting. Owner Tobey Moss ventured into the art world as a LACMA docent in 1970. She quickly got hooked and wound up owning her own gallery by 1978, and from there graduated from works on paper to the likes of Daumier and other well-known artists. Most exhibitions focus on works by a single artist, and have recently included Clinton Adams, Jules Engel and Helen Lundeberg. Admission is free.
