Playa de Concha (Shell Beach) is in the middle of El Sardinero. Its name probably comes from the hundreds of little shells that wash up on the shore, although some say it is related to legends of a female hermit who once lived here. The beach is 200 meters long and almost 5000 square meters in area. Its fine white sand distinguishes it from the other beaches nearby. Access to the beach is by way of steps. Facilities and services are good; there is nearby parking, showers, lifeguards and an area especially reserved for sports and games. The sands are cleaned every day and visitors are encouraged to use the bins provided.
