This is where most of the summer visitors to El Sardinero congregate. The beach is certainly big enough to accommodate them; it is one kilometer long and over 50000 square meters in area. Also known as Playa de Castañeda, the sand invites you as it gently slopes down to the sea. Standards of general cleanliness, good facilities and high water quality have earned it the European Union's Blue Flag. Facilities include children's nursery, nearby parking, showers, and life guards. There is a special area set aside for volleyball and beach tennis. The sand is cleaned every day and there are bins for your use. This is a truly idyllic seaside holiday spot, in lovely surroundings.
