Back to Grove Hotel (The), A Coast Hotel Great Boise Location The reviews here are so out of my experience, I had to write something. I teach at a university in the northern part of the state and travel to Boise for a meeting or three every year and I've been doing that since at least 2000. I've always had an excellent experience at The Grove and it remains my first choice. The rooms are very comfortable. I've stayed there at least 20 nights and the rooms are always clean. I've had no problems whatsoever so when I see complaints I have to wonder what's going on. It's a fine, business class hotel in the heart of downtown Boise.

Reviewed by: golfgrll from on Oct 14 2008 Grove - good or bad? Other reviews either raved or panned this hotel, so I was somewhat concerned. I was there for a meeting at the hotel. I found the various negative reviews unfounded. The staff was helpful and enthusiastic, the rooms were clean & comfortable, restaurant was fine, did not visit the bar, airport shuttle was convenient, location was great. I paid a group/meeting discount rate (including amenities). I normally don't frequent upper end hotels, so I can't rate the $$ value. I think the hotel dings you for stuff (e.g. parking & WIFI connection), although I got WIFI free, and a parking coupon (although I did not have a car). Did not use room service. So I did NOT have the negative experience others may have had.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Sep 19 2008 Poor Business Conference Location The Grove Hotel guest rooms were the standing joke of my recent business conference, leaving no doubt that none of the vendors or business professionals in the area will subject future conference attendees or clients to such terrible accomodations. I stayed at the Grove Hotel because a conference I was attending was being held at the hotel. The conference facility was fine enough the problem was the disparity of hotel accomodations received by conference goers. A few of the attendees were provided rooms that were literally arena skyboxes. While others, who checked in earlier received upper floor rooms that met the description posted online. My room was the Food Services of America skybox and had a Murphy bed and full wall of windows into the arena, as you might expect a skybox would have. The other furniture was 4 bar stools and 2 bar tables - all facing the wall of windows, a desk and an armoire - neither of which was accessible unless the Murphy bed was put away. There was no mini-bar or refridgerator, no microwave, no terrycloth robes all of which are advertised available in guest rooms.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on May 20 2008 4 Star....You've got to be kidding me! Definitely no where near the caliber that is expected when you book a four star. I thought it would be nice to spend a little extra money to stay in a luxury hotel- boy was I wrong. I could have much easier stayed in a holiday inn and had an entirely more enjoyable time, and not had to pay extra for every little amenity, and perhaps my mini-fridge would not have been locked up. (So in case you do bring anything of your own to drink, or maybe have left-overs from a nice dinner- you won't have anywhere to put it, unless you want to call the desk to ask them to unlock it- and dont even get me started on the front-desk) Overall it just ruined my weekend and I do not recommend anyone stay here at all, unless you like to pay top dollar to be ignored and to get the bare minimum.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Apr 24 2008 Save your money The only thing your money buys you at this hotel is the room. You have to pay extra for internet, parking, food, etc. There are a dozen cheaper hotels within a five mile radius that give free wireless internet and a free breakfast, and you won't have to put up with the hassle and cost of parking downtown.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jun 03 2007 Misleading! This hotel has bad customer service and very pricey rooms for what seems like you are sleeping in a box. An average room cost will buy you a great suite in another hotel. There is nothing special about this hotel, only close to the hockey rink...even that can keep you up until one o'clock in the morning during the week
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Apr 23 2007 customer service The rooms and housekeepers were great but as far as the customer service goes ,It was the worst I have ever experienced. I work at one of the top three resorts in the United States
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Sep 10 2006 Perfect, if you like the smell of smoke! Though purported to be a non-smoking hotel, my room smelled like a chain smoker had lived there for 20 years. Stay away from this hotel if you are allergic, or sensitive to cigarette smoke. I'll probably have to throw away all my clothes when I get home. Otherwise its a fairly decent hotel in a good location. The piano player in the lobby is great!
