Like Coming Home
I have stayed at this hotel at least 6 times in the past 8 years. I come here for a large conference and usually have my husband and son come up and meet me, and we make a weekend of it. I am planning to go back for a girls' weekend in a couple of weeks, so I was checking out the reviews. I have to say that people who complain about the rooms not being luxurious enough must stay at hotels that have gilded bathtubs and silk sheets. I don't know how you could get much more luxurious than some of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in, evening turndown service, where they put a napkin on the floor next to your bed, so you don't get into bed with even slightly dusty feet (the carpets are pretty emaculate, so I'm not sure how you would have dusty feet). What makes this hotel so special for me is the incredible feeling that you are actually a GUEST at the hotel. So many hotels treat their guests like cattle or customers, but here, you feel like a special guest, especially when you return many times. Everyone who works here (with a few exceptions over the years) has bent over backward to accommodate our needs and make us feel welcome. The special touches they provide for little children, such as age-appropriate toys, treats, access to a reliable, safe, babysitting service, and just treating my child with respect, are one of the best things. They don't treat the adults too badly either. I have only had about 2 minor complaints about this hotel over my 6 stays (each averaging 4 nights) - one time, the security manager was a bit rude to us when the key to our room didn't work when we were coming back from the pool. He treated us like intruders. That is a very minor complaint because I guess I would want him to treat someone trying to get into a room with a key that didn't work like an intruder, but even after he checked our IDs, he was still a bit surly. The other minor complaint was that occasionally, the pool-side servers were a bit overwhelmed and drink and food orders took way too long. During busy times, the hotel should put on extra staff at the pool to really give the full Four Seasons resort exprience. Other than those times, we have always had the most relaxing, delightful stays at this hotel. When we leave, my young son even says "Mommy, I want to go back to the Four Seasons!" We will keep coming back year after year, as long as we can afford it!

Holiday Inn with Four Season Label
As a regular at Four Seasons around the world, I usually find Four Seasons Hotels among the best. But the one in Austin, Texas doesn't belong in the chain. It might even have a hard time holding a Holiday Inn affiliation -- it's truly that bad! The HVAC systems don't seem able to keep up with the humidity and on some floors, the stench of mold is so bad that staff will privately admit they regularly have to accomodate room changes to floors that don't smell like a mix between spilled sewage and the stench of water rot. It doesn't seem healthy.

Check out the "Bat Package"!
Always a great place to stay, but this summer, we tried the "Go Batty" package, which was named in honor of the bat colony at a nearby bridge. You can see the bats come out from the hotel grounds facing town lake, and it's amazing! The package includes cocktails and a picnic dinner on the lawn. You even get binoculars to see the creatures "up close"!

Impressed
This is the third time I have stayed at a Four Seasons and I found the Austin location to be the best, by far. The staff was so helpful and friendly, the location ideal and the view was amazing. I can't wait to go back.

Another Great 4-Seasons
I've stayed at this hotel three times. It is my favorite hotel in Austin. The rooms are well done and clean. The reataurant is very good. There is a nice fitness facility (a bit smaller than some other 4 Seasons, but quite servicable). They have bikes that you can take out and ride around town. Be sure to rise along the river. There is a nice bike trail. The pool is very nice and well maintained. There is suntan lotion available for the guests.

this is the place!
this is the place to stay weather your passing through or planning on hanging around for a few days,as we did.reservations were easy to make, the rooms were very nice, and very clean, the location made going and coming so accessable to everthing, you might find a cheaper place to stay, but not better,i wouldnt think of staying anywhere else.and if you didnt want to drive, things, such as resturants and play areas for children are all in walking distance as well, and sight seeing?they have the most interesting history,ever..i would recomend, this place to all..great place for a family vacation,or just a stay over for business.
