Back to Teufelhof Basel (The) Pleasantly Surprised at Der Teufelhof Basel The stay at this well-designed and conceived hotel was a highlight of our recent vacation. We had stayed at what my son, daughter, wife and I had all rarely agreed on - over-hyped hotels in London and Paris. After walking into the room we thought we had died and gone to heaven. No fussy detail or cheesey reproduction furniture or decorations. Handsome wooden floors complemented by bright white walls in what we considered a Scandinavian look. I had never particularly cared for the look but admittedly, I appreciated it very much. My graphic designer son naturally raved about the design and feel of the use of space, etc. And, of course, the real treat is the art work that generously avails itself to the fortunate guest. The adjoining restaurant and bar were also of the highest calibre, given the price range.Conveniently located near the Basel University and the thriving old city section, walking to all the sights and sounds of Basel is practically happens as soon as you step out of the hotel. I would heartily recommed this hotel to anybody that not only appreciates art and contemporary design, but also anybody who is looking for a very refreshing change when staying at a hotel.
